FATHER'S DAY COOK-OUT

Father’s Day is June 15th, and we will be honoring our dad’s in a special way this year. As always this is “Bring Your Dad to Church Day,” but we are making it even more special. Let dad come to church in his t-shirt and shorts, bring his lawn chair, kick back and relax. And following church we are having a cook-out honoring dad. We have tickets to hand out as a way to advertise, there is no charge and there will be plenty of food for the entire family. So join us on Father’s Day and “Bring Your Dad to Church.” See you on the 15th!!!!

“Memorial Day used to be a solemn day of mourning, a sacred day of remembrance to honor those who paid the ultimate price for our freedoms. Businesses closed for the day. Towns held parades honoring the fallen, the parade routes often times ending at a local cemetery, where Memorial Day speeches were given and prayers offered up. People took the time that day to clean and decorate with flowers and flags the graves of those who fell in service to their country.
"Let no vandalism of avarice or neglect, no ravages of time testify to the present or to the coming generations that we have forgotten as a people the cost of a free and undivided republic." -- General Logan - May 5, 1868
We need to remember with sincere respect those who paid the price for our freedoms; we need to keep in sacred remembrance those who died serving their country. We need to never let them be forgotten. However, over the years the original meaning and spirit of Memorial Day has faded from the public consciousness.
"If it is considered a holiday, why is it so? I consider it to be a national day of mourning. This is how we observe this day in our home. Because of what that day represents the rest of the days of the year are our holidays." -- F L Lloyd West Chester, Pa USA - February 26, 2000
On Memorial Day we need to stop and pay with sincere conviction our respects for those who died protecting and preserving the freedoms we enjoy, for we owe those honored dead more than we can ever repay.”
This came from the usmemorialday.org and regardless of what we may think about Memorial Day it is a day set aside to remember those who have died protecting us. This day was first observed in1868 and was called Decoration Day, a day of remembrance. We need to take time to tell a serviceman or woman thank you for their service, whether they are active military or not. We also need to take time tomorrow to remember the price paid for our freedom.

Bro. Randy

FREE FOOD

On Saturday, May 24, we will be serving free food to everyone who comes by the Rotary Bowl in Fair Park begining at 3:00 pm. Our plans are to have live music, if it doesn't rain. It must be our human nature, we pray for rain and then when it is forcast for the same day as our outreach in the park we hope that it doesn't rain. Doesn't seem to make much sense does it? But it is in God's hands, so if you are in town, come join us.

“Now we are facing the reality that fewer unchurched people are willing to visit a Christian church. This will compel us to embrace a go and tell—or incarnational—approach. Should we invite our friends to church? Sure. But should we be, do and tell the gospel to people in culture? You bet. It is not only biblical, but it is even more essential today as our culture grows increasingly resistant to the church.” -Ed Stetzer of Lifeway Research
Do you try to make friends with people who don’t know the Lord or do you try to keep your friendships limited to those who are saved?
When you find something that used to work but no longer is, what do you do? Do you try to fix it back the way it was or do you try to improve it?
How do you feel when things are changed? Do you like change or dislike it? Do you find yourself being the one who initiates change, or the one who tries to keep things the way they have always been?
It’s been said that nobody likes change, that we all like to find our comfort zone and stay in it. But when we must change to live, are we willing? The world in which we live has changed and we must adapt in order to tell the lost about Jesus. God does not change, His Word does not change, His laws do not change, but people do, culture does. Just as missionaries take the gospel to the lost people of their culture, we must also.
We need to have friends who are lost, we need to make friends with unsaved people in order to lead them to Christ. This is called Relational Evangelism, or forming a relationship with someone in order to evangelize, or tell them about Jesus.
Even Jesus used relational evangelism in his day, He did not do as the religious people of His day did, he went out where the people were. Why would we think that we are better than Jesus, or that we know more about ministry than He did or does?
We must find a better and more effective way to tell the old, old story of Jesus.
So, are you opposed to change?
