Carey 1st Baptist: Childress, Texas, United States; First Baptist Church of Carey was established, September 24, 1905, in Carey Texas. The first meeting place was the Carey Schoolhouse, with the first church being built in 1906. In 1949 a new church building was built, with a fellowship hall being added in 1977. A fire destroyed this entire building on September 12, 2002. We held a groundbreaking for our new building on December 15, 2002, and we began building on December 16, 2002. This building was dedicated on October 19, 2003. Our 100 year celebration was September 24-25, 2005. Although the official name is First Baptist Church of Carey, many refer to the church as Carey 1st Baptist Church since Carey now has the same zip code as Childress. We would like to invite you to worship with us at Carey 1st Baptist. We have a wonderful Bible study program during our Sunday School time. Sunday School begins at 9:45am, and Worship at 10:45am, Mid - week prayer meeting, reFuge (our Youth Group), and KIDZONE Children’s Classes are on Wednesday’s at 7:00pm. You are invited to come and worship Jesus with us.
